Beautiful building, thoughtful display and lighting – a certain restraint in selecting the art objects – all put together creates magic. The vast panorama of Indian art history, Mughal, Rajput, Pahari, Bengal school – early modern and contemporary art, all under one roof is unique. My congratulations to the Lalbhai family!!!
I have visited most museums in India and have worked for decades curating exhibitions in Western Museums. I can honestly say that this is one of the finest collections and design of exhibition that I have ever seen. Congratulations! I am in awe …
What I admire most is the manner in which Lalbaug has been ‘revived ’and made accessible to the city, through this museum. Secondly, the honest unpretentious and extremely friendly ‘inclusive’ manner in which it has been done and finally the simple and clean display of the wonderful collection. I look forward to seeing how it evolves. I wish you good luck.
Thank you for doing this – we mean it. The place, the space, the art – all of it is indescribably lovely. In a world more and more out of kilter this provides balance and sanctuary. Two suggestions: A book, a book! (Of the house and the restoration) and an art catalogue 2) in the contemporary art galleries, some benches to spend time with the works.
